Isle Royale National Park, Michigan, was established in 1940 to protect this pristine island and smaller surrounding islands in Lake Superior. Isle Royale is large, 45 miles long and 9 miles wide, and can only be reached by boats and float planes. It’s home to its own isolated wildlife populations including wolves and moose.
